We’ll begin our journey with a warm welcome at “Centro de las Raíces”, Cuba’s first cultural hub fully dedicated to Afro aesthetics and identity—and Beyond Roots headquarters. Over a rich Cuban coffee, you’ll meet your guides and prepare to dive deep into the heart of Afro-Cuban traditions.
Our Adventure:
We’ll travel to Guanabacoa, the sacred birthplace of Afro-Cuban culture. Here, you’ll meet a Babalawo—the highest priest of Santería—who will perform a spiritual cleansing ritual and share ancestral wisdom about the Afro-Cuban religions that have been preserved for generations.
Culinary Experience:
AlongsideSurama, our culinary matriarch, you’ll take part in preparing a traditional Afro-Cuban lunch. This hands-on cooking session isn’t about gourmet technique—it’s about embracing the soulful folklore of a resilient community.
Feast Under the Ceiba Tree:
After cooking, we’ll gather beneath the sacred Ceiba tree to enjoy the meal you helped create. Live music and dance will bring the Orishas to life, making this a feast for both body and soul. Enjoy a traditional cocktail and the sounds of the drums as strangers become family.
